It's Me: The New Mrs. B!
Well, I figure I'm well overdue for a new post! So here it goes...... I've been married for about a month and a half now. So many people say, "How's the married life?!" and I always say "Good!" or "Great!", but in all honesty it doesn't feel a whole lot different! Still, it does feel great to finally be married! We got married on the 14th of last month (July) and it went very smoothly for the most part. To begin the day I ate a bowl of fruit-loops at my best friend Marissa's parent's new house in Vienna. Surprisingly I was able to sleep until almost 7:30 without tossing and turning too much. I didn't think I would get much sleep at all! Marissa and I got ourselves cleaned up and ready to face the day before heading out to see all of the other girls.
This is a picture of Marissa and I before we even got out of bed the day of the wedding. Life was much less stressful layiing in bed with my very best friend that day!We looked pretty rough! Lol
This is how we looked after getting our makeup done that same day. I figured if I was going to post such a rough-looking picture of us that I should post a good one too ;p.
Later that morning Marissa and I met up with my other bridesmaids to get our hair and makeup done. It was an interesting time. We had a lot of laughs but even more hairspray! (S/o to Laura Zubreski for doing a fabbbbbb job on my makeup! It looked amazing and I LOOOOVED it! Go see her at Belk for your makeover and makeup needs!)
After that it was finally time to go to the church! I was beginning to feel the anxiety set in but was still pretty calm. I didn't start to feel the panic set in until after the girls had helped me get my dress on and many people began to flood the room wanting "pictures of the bride". That's when it sunk in. It wasn't the fact that I was getting married. It wasn't that I was going to walk down an aisle in front of 150 people. It was that ALL eyes would be on my EVERY move for the rest of the day..... well, rest of my life depending upon who you are lol. Still, I maintained my cool and posed for pictures for anyone that asked, willingly or not lol!
Of course I was more than happy to stop and pose for a picture with my beautiful niece and flowergirl, Emma Grace!
About that time my good friend (and AMAZING jack of all trades for the wedding!), Jordan, came in and said it was "time". But all I could hear was BA-BOOM BA-BOOM BA-BOOM BA-BOOM BA-BOOM! (That's the sound of me heart about to jump out of my chest for those of you that didn't catch on!) I felt very proud of myself that up until that moment I had kept my composure through this all! But not any more!!! I was a wreck! We walked out the door, around the side of the church, and in the North Entrance behind the sanctuary where 150 of our closest friends and family were waiting for ME! Ahhhhhh! I began breathing heavily, my heart was racing, my knees were weak, and my hands wouldn't stop shaking! I. Was. Having. A PANIC ATTACK! Yes, I, Kasey ChristineHartleben Brookover, was LOSING IT! Curtis's mom.... then my bridesmaids... then my flowergirl... they had all taken "the walk". It was officially my turn. My dad (being the brave guy he is) grabbed my hand and said, "I'm ready whenever you are". So, arm-in-arm with my dad, I walked down the aisle.... hyperventilating and all. No joke people.
After my major meltdown it was all pretty smooth sailing. "Will you?", "I do.", "Take this ring", "Take this ring", "blah, blah, blah until death do us part" and all that jazz. (I really do take my marriage and my wedding ceremony seriously, it's just WAY too much to blog about :) ) And that was that! "I would like to introduce to you the new Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Brookover!"
I must admit, it felt pretty good! And I didn't hyperventilate back down the aisle, let it be known!!!
After the wedding we had a great celebration with our friends and family at the Parkersburg Art Center. Our "first dance" was to I'll Be by Edwin McCain. Took us awhile to pick this song but it was a definite match! It was a night full of fun, music, desserts, dancing, cheers, beers,(MOUNTAINEERS!... had to)and tears.... those may have been my fault! My wonderful sister made each and every one of the cupcakes we had in place of a traditional wedding cake. At the end of the night there was so much to clean up. Huuuuuuge thank you to everyone that stayed and helped clean! Especially Tammy, Bill, Dad, Jodi, Adam, Ashley, Amp, and Mike! You guys were amazing and we really, really appreciate it! Here are a few pictures from reception.....
After clean-up we went home and went to sleep! I slept for about 2 hours and Curtis had a total of 1 hour before getting back up and heading to Columbus airport! Oh, sure we were excited, but excitement only gets you so far on 2 hours of sleep! Our flights went very smoothly and we were in beautiful Cancun, Mexico before we knew it! Since this is already a pretty lengthy post I'll just leave you with more pictures from our honeymoon instead of going into detail of all the in's and out's of our stay.... Just know that it was the perfect week to our new lives together!
Now that we're back we both miss Mexico terribly! We're back to our normal routines. Him working at BPD, me subbing at Wood Co Schools. But still happy as ever!
Lastly, I'd like to thank the awesome Lindsay Husk for all of our beautiful wedding pictures! We love, love, LOVE them and couldn't be happier with them! You are amazing at what you do!
PS- sorry if I got carried away with the pictures ;)

I'm only slightly disappointed that you didn't include a photo of Jackson showing off his sweet dance moves!
ReplyDeleteWhen you have to pick between 600 pictures to post some don't make the cut lol. It was REALLY hard to pick! I can't post them all or I WOULD!
ReplyDeleteHence, why I'm only slightly disappointed ;) Seriously, though, it was a great wedding and you were beautiful, of course!
